Swedish Cinnamon Rolls (Kanelbullar) Recipe 🇸🇪

Ingredients:

• 2 cups milk 🥛
• 1/2 cup butter 🧈
• 1/2 cup sugar 🍬
• 1 packet dry yeast 🍞
• 5 cups flour 🌾
• 1 tsp salt 🧂
• 2 tsp ground cardamom 🌿
• 1/2 cup butter (for filling) 🧈
• 1/2 cup sugar (for filling) 🍬
• 2 tbsp cinnamon (for filling) 🌰
• 1 egg (for brushing) 🥚
• Pearl sugar (for topping) ✨

Steps:

1. Warm milk & melt butter. Mix with sugar & yeast. Let sit 10 mins. ⏳
2. Add flour, salt, & cardamom. Knead until smooth. Let rise 1 hour. ⏲️
3. Roll out dough, spread butter, sprinkle sugar & cinnamon. Roll & cut. ✂️
4. Place on tray, let rise 30 mins. Brush with egg & sprinkle pearl sugar. 🍳✨
5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 mins. Enjoy! 😋

🌿 Choosing the Right Materials for Your Space 🏠

1. Start with What You Have: Look around—what materials are locally available to you? 🌍 This is your starting point.
2. Consider the Properties You Need: What do you want your materials to do? Insulate? Regulate temperature? Durability? 🎯 Identifying your needs is key.
3. Combine Creatively: Mixing materials can offer unique benefits. For example, stone walls are fantastic for temperature regulation—they keep your space cool in summer but can be tough to heat in winter. 🪨🔥
4. Balance Insulation and Ventilation: High insulation is awesome, but remember, if you open the window, the temperature inside can change rapidly. 🌡️ Consider how you’ll balance this.
5. Think About Sunlight: Window sizes and roof overhangs matter! 🌞 Plan for how the sun enters your space throughout the year. In winter, the lower sun should warm your home, while in summer, it’s better to block the higher sun.
6. Design with Purpose: There’s so much to consider, but isn’t that the beauty of permaculture? Designing with nature, materials, and the seasons in mind is what makes your space truly sustainable. 🌱✨
